Introduction

In this article, I introduce a religious and mythological place in Bounsi, Banka (Bihar). Madhusudan Dham, Bounsi is a Hindu temple that is 600 years old and dedicated to Lord Vishnu. In our Hindu religion, many incarnations of Lord Vishnu have been shown, out of which Madhusudan was named after killing a demon. This article describes the whole story of how Lord Vishnu became Lord Madhusudan, and why this temple in Bounsi is famous for Lord Madhusudan all over India.

History of this place

If you like to visit religious places, then you must visit Bounsi once in a lifetime because here you are going to get a real-time experience, and that too with a lot of information. This place is also special because there are some interesting stories related to our Hindu religion, some of which are witnessed in this place. The temple is near Mandar Hill, which is famous for the Samudramantha, where a battle happened between the gods and the demons.

Temple of Madhusudan Bhagwan

When the universe was created, there was only water on the surface of the earth, and lord Vishnu was lying in the shelter of Sheshnag, and from this water, two demons were born, Madhu and Kaitaw. You will also find this information in the Vishnu Purana and Bhagwat Purana. Both these demons were born from ignorance and darkness, and they pleased Lord Brahma by performing rigorous penance for thousands of years. Brahma ji was pleased with both of them and gave them this boon that no one can kill you unless you wish to do so. As soon as both of them got the boons, they started creating terror on Earth and also started troubling the gods. The terror became so intense that their terror was discussed in the entire universe. Meanwhile, an incident happened that became the main reason for lord Madhusudan to take another incarnation on earth. Madhu and Kaitaw stole lord Brahma's Vedas and hid them in the netherworld, so Lord Brahma faced a lot of difficulty in creating the creation. Lord Brahma goes to lord Vishnu and tells him all the incidents, and then lord Vishnu decides that he will fight with both of the demons.

Statue of Lord Madhusudan

Lord Vishnu took a new form and was called Madhusudan, a man of action, dynamic, and destructive. In this form, he also wore the Sudarshan Chakra, which you can see even today in the idols of temples. Now, Lord Vishnu goes to the netherworld, where both the demons make fun of Lord Vishnu. He asked lord Vishnu Who are you that you have come to challenge me. On this, lord Vishnu replied I am the one who protects religion in the whole world, now your end has also come.

Now the war begins, which takes place in three steps. In the first phase, the war is fought with weapons, and lord Vishnu started his Sudarshan Chakra, but both of them stopped the Sudarshan Chakra with their weapons. Both were very strong, due to which the roar of this war resonated in the whole universe. The war was taking place in such a terrifying situation that lightning started falling from the sky, the earth was trembling and the sea was raging with great force; all the gods were terrified of this war, after this the game of illusion began, because both demons had also become illusionists due to the blessings and lord Vishnu was also the god of illusion. The fight continued for thousands of years, and lord Vishnu understood that these demons would not die like this; he made a strategy and gave them the advantage of fear and flattered them a little.

Mandar Parvat

While praising them, he said I want to ask for a boon from both of you. The demons said What do you want from me, Then Lord Vishnu said Give me the boon that I can kill you in peace. Both demons got trapped in their net, but they said Kill us where there is no water. Lord Vishnu lifted them to his thighs, which were above the water, and separated their heads with the Sudarshan Chakra. Then the echo of "Jai Madhusudan Jai Madhusudan" arose all in the universe, and a new incarnation of lord Vishnu, Madhusudan.

This was the whole story of Lord Madhusudan, and this is the place in the Banka, Bihar, where Lord Vishnu used to rest in the shade of Shishunag near Mandar Mountain. Now, villages are based at this place, but at that time, this place was surrounded by the sea all around. Nowadays you look carefully at Mandar Mountain, you will see that there are round formations that were formed due to the rubbing of Basukinag, and it is visible even today, which is living proof of all these knots. I will write about Mandar Mountain and Samudramanthan in the next blog.

Conclusion

In my point of view, I highly recommend this place to all of you because of its spirituality and peacefulness. The place describes how a wrong era affected all the societies and what we could be done by us to overcome the issues. At this place, you will get more information and gain new experiences about the place.
